This blog is the ‘WritingResource’ part of PonderLounge.
PonderLounge is an online community dedicated to the creative written word of young people (ages 11-16). We didn’t develop PonderLounge to be another writing site for casual social chatting or, on the flip side, a highly selective publishing site for future best-selling authors. PonderLounge is here for all of today’s young people who want to explore their literary creativity.. These statements were our guiding principles leading us to develop PL’s core content and simple yet engaging approach to the creative writing process. It is our expectation that it will be shaped, defined and evolved by tomorrow’s young writers of every skill level.
PonderLounge’s ethos is our:
-
Celebration of Creativity. It is our vow to celebrate and post the creative writing from all young people regardless of academic skill.
-
Innovative Approach. Peer interaction is an important element in a young person’s life. We capture this important symbiotic element through our through our original, socially relevant characters (Residents). They encourage literary dialogue through their stories, blogs and thought-provoking literary activities.
-
Original Content. PonderLounge engages professional as well as budding YA (young adult) writers to develop the nucleus of our Residents. However, it will be up to our young writers to develop them by actively forming the next chapters of each Resident’s life. The opportunity to determine fate is a powerful one for today’s young people.
-
Unique Character Creation. Most young people often have discerning opinions about their peers and critical viewpoints about themselves. PonderLounge has a unique format to explore and create authentic, honest and dynamic characters (Friends) just waiting to be cultivated by a young person’s opinions and imagination.
-
Literary Collaboration. Writing, generally, is an individual activity. At PonderLounge, we’ve invented a way to inject teamwork into the act of creative writing. An individual member may create a sketch of a Friend but it will be the collective collaboration by his/her peers to expand the Friend.
-
Worthy Feedback. One member may post a literary submission but it will be the interactive feedback and participation of peers and Literary Artists that will enhance the submission, thus benefitting the whole literary community.
We are a young nonprofit organization, and we are listening. Your input is most appreciated! Please write us at contact@ponderlounge.org. Thanks!
